Today in L.A. Mr.R assigned a paper that we had to answer on Wrinkle in Time. We had to answer seven questions on chapters 1-4.
- What thoughts do you have about Meg’s personality as you read these chapters?
- My thoughts on Meg’s personality are she is a misfit who as very little friends. Meg has some difficulties at school like her grades are bad, she has no friends and she has no where to go. She knows that shes a misfit and it gets to her but she has-her family. At home she is safe and is always loved from her mom. She doesn’t really appreciate that shes loved that much. She also has her brother Charles Wallace because he is like her in some ways. Overall Meg has many problems but is loved and cared by her family.
- Why is Meg Murry unhappy at school?
- Meg is unhappy at school because the two most important things are going the wrong way. First, she has no friends at all. This leads her to being unhappy at school and doesn’t give her a good reputation. Next she has bad grades. The grades become this way because she is so miserable with school and that doesn’t help her in doing good. Since she is so miserable there it leads to problems like fighting.
- How and why does Calvin fit in with the Murry family
- Calvin fits in perfectly with the Murry family because he gives everyone in there family something to appreciate. First he gives Meg a friend that has the same problem has her he’s a misfit. He also gives her something more than just a friend he becomes here boyfriend which helps Meg more because she has a friend, someone who loves her and someone that she can talk to. He gives Charles Wallace friendship. This one isn’t has big but Calvin is there for Charles Wallace. He gives Mrs. Murry a great feeling. He gives Meg all that love which in a roundabout way helps Mrs. Murry because she doesn’t have to worry about Meg anymore.
- Where and why do Calvin, Charles Wallace, and Meg go with Mrs.Whatsit, Mrs. Mrs. Which.
- Charles Wallace and Meg are missing there father. There father was teleported to another planet and kidnaped by the IT. Meg and Charles Wallace see Mrs. Whatsit at the very beginning of the book. Charles Wallace also knows Mrs. Whatsit. The three kids and witches go to many planets. They spend lots of time on a planet or very little. Their main goal is to find Mr. Murry and bring him home safe but of course they have lots of problems along the way.
- In your opinion, why do the three children accept the three Mrs. W’s rather than fear them.
- The kids accept the three Mrs W’s because the Mrs W’s are nice and they all have the same idea. They all want to save Mr. Murry but the Mrs W’s also have another idea to fight off the black thing.
- In what ways does Meg seem like any other young person? In what ways are her feelings similar to yours?
- Meg seems like any other young person because we all have that stage in our lives when we think everything is against us. We all have that stage when nothing seems to go right like when you have no friends, your a misfit, you have bad grades or when you feel like no one loves you. Her feelings are similar to mine because if my father one day disapeared I would do anything to find him even if he was on a different planet.
- Imagine that you are a guidance counselor at Meg’s school. You believe Meg can do better classwork. Write a letter to Mrs. Murry about Meg, explaining the problem as you see it and suggesting possible solutions.
- Dear Mrs. Murry,
Your daughters recent performance in school has been below par. I believe that your daughter could do better classwork if she had more confidence in herself. I’ve noticed she is some what of a misfit. If Meg could find some more friends she would have more confidence in herself and she would perform better. Meg has been slacking off during class and day dreaming. This could be fixed by getting her to studym more so she would be more intrestred in whatwe are studing. I would also suggest Meg to come to my office everyother day because she has been having some emotional problems. I believe this has to do something with the disaperance of her father
Thank You
